Since it’s technically “summer”, and health is a huge priority right now, I’ve been trying to venture out of the usual fruit rings corn flakes breakfast bowl and trying out some new breakfast ideas. And, thanks to many many trial and errors – and the internet – I discovered the smoothie bowl. It’s not just an instagram trend but a refreshing, healthy and super easy way to get a nutritional breakfast that will leave you feeling actually full, but not too full that you’re left bloated the rest of your morning. Here are some of my personal favorite recipes that you can try out for yourself!
All of the following recipes are one serving only.
Strawberry Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients: 1 frozen banana 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries 1 cup almond milk ½ cup frozen grapes 3 dates Optional: chia seeds, fresh/dried strawberries, banana slices, coconut shreds.
Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
2 frozen bananas
½ fresh banana
½ cup milk (of your choice)
2 dates
½ tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp cacao/cocoa powder
small handful of walnuts
Optional: chia seeds, coconut shreds, granola, banana slices, slivered almonds.
Green Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
1 frozen bananas
1 fresh bananas
1 cups spinach
1 ½ tbsp peanut butter
½ cup milk (of your choice)
½ tsp vanilla
½ tsp cinnamon
Optional: chia seeds, blueberries, raspberries, sunflower seeds, shredded coconut.
Mango Smoothie Bowl
1½ cups frozen mango
2 bananas
¼ avocado
1 tbsp lemon juice
¼ cup milk (of your choice)
2 dates
Optional: granola, coconut shreds, fresh strawberries, banana slices.
Coconut Berry Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
2 cups coconut milk beverage 3 cups frozen mixed berries 1 frozen under-ripe sliced banana Optional: fresh berries, coconut shreds
Banana Date Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
1 banana frozen
½ cup frozen cauliflower (steam before freezing for the best flavor)
1 Medjool date pitted
1 tablespoons flax seeds
Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and/or ½ teaspoon cinnamon
The directions for all of them are as follows: combine all of the ingredients starting with liquids in a blender and blend them until smooth. Pour your mixture into a bowl and add your favourite toppings. All of them are very healthy, super easy to make and take less than 5 minutes!
