If You Watch Porn via Porhub, You’re Aiding in the Trafficking of Humans, Including Children

TW – mentions of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and r*pe. Please, if you know this has the potential to affect you, don’t read it.

The ongoing female revolution in Egypt calls for an article highlighting why everyone’s go-to porn platform is actually one of the biggest endorsers of child pornography, human trafficking, adult abuse, and rape.

After promoting a “Stay Home” campaign in March, viewers were able to access all their ‘premium’ content free during the COVID-19 outbreak. PornHub was quickly swarmed with several human trafficking allegations and many women spoke out, stating “PornHub profited from my rape.”

With 115 million viewers daily, 6 million videos are uploaded a year by users, and it simply takes an email address to do so. The platform doesn’t hold space for verifying the age OR consent status of those involved in the video, despite many claims that they have ‘systems’ in place that ‘filter out’ seemingly underage or illegal pornography. This was constantly proven incorrectly through countless court cases and testimonies from victims of PornHub.

To clarify, this isn’t from ‘professionally paid’ actors and actresses. Last year, a 15-year-old girl that had been missing for several months prior was found after 58 videos of her surfaced on the website. After a long case in court, PornHub agreed to take down the videos. This was after thousands had already viewed from it, therefore generating high-profits for the owners from ad revenues and premium memberships. Her story is genuinely the tip of the iceberg. Numerous statements followed this story from minors and adults with stories that are similar to this one, and some weren’t even successful in getting their videos taken down. Hence PornHub continues to profit off non-consensual and underage content. Over 118 cases against PornHub have been raised.

A petition was made around a year ago to take down PornHub, or at least place a reliable and working system that checks the legality of each video uploaded, considering the age of the members in it, and with clear consent from all parties. The petition has reached over 1 million signatures from 192 countries and is being actively endorsed by 300 different organisations. The petition can be found on traffickinghub.com along with updates on any changes regarding this monstrosity of an issue.

PornHub also faced human/child trafficking allegations from a partnered porn label. The women claimed that they were blackmailed into working for the label, and a number of the involved persons were found to be kidnapped and forced into a line of sex work for the label. Many were minors under the age of 17. Most of these videos weren’t taken down despite persistence in court.

On the off-chance a case against them is won in court, PornHub doesn’t offer financial compensation to the victims, and in many cases, the videos aren’t instantly taken down, which further multiplies profit made off the victim.

“We are not masturbation slaves” became a powerful statement repeated by the movement. The true horror and disgust this platform displays is simply unacceptable. In our ‘modern’ day and age, no one should feel like they have to worry or stress about becoming a sexual image against their will, let alone have someone else profit off of it. Make sure to sign the petition, it’s the least we can do.

Stay safe,

  1. Very informative and apt post. Appreciate your write ups. I will definitely sign the petition.
As far as such port websites are concerned, I really don’t know how people benefit of it. As you pointed out that is another level of slavery.
