You Need to Watch Season 2 of ‘Sex Education’ Like, Right Now

By: Rawan Khalil

After around a year of waiting – if not more – the second season of Sex Education blessed our dreary January. It’s probably one of the things that helped make sure I did not kill myself in that dreadful, never ending 5-year-long-month. If you have not heard of the show you’ve been living under a rock, and if you haven’t watched it? Well, the least offensive thing I can say is that you’re missing out, big time. I binged the whole season in a single day. Yes, it’s that good.

Season 2 confirms that it’s worth the hype so here is why I think you should watch it- these are facts ladies and gents. Facts.

I can’t Sex Education is a light watch because of how packed it is, however, what I can tell you is that it’s so fun to watch. We as teenagers love talking about sex and so to watch a show revolving around the unfloding of other teenagers’ sexual escapades is actually quite entertaining, hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking. The show is funny and daring which makes it great entertainment.

The very first scene were everyone is attacking Otis (main character) with questions is fast-paced, funny and is around all you need to get hooked.

The characters in this show are so rich and well written. They represent teenagers – us – our problems, our needs and they voice our inner struggles. This aspect was already present in season 1 but season 2 took it to a whole new level. They are not always likable, they are not always right but instead they are bittersweet. Even the bitch has a good side and even the sweet boy- ends up being one you want to murder then feed his bones to the dogs. This is my psychopathic tendencies speaking.

The characters are also very diverse in every sense of the word. The inclusivity of the show is both insane and beautiful to witness.

Every performance is wonderful and backed up by the brilliant script and the fantastic cast. Not a single character is boring or brushed upon lightly- even the smaller roles have a significant impact on the story.

Let me get this straight. Sex Education tackled sexual assault, asexuality, pansexuality, internalized homophobia, self-harm, anxiety, bullying, stay-at-home mum isolation, consent, adoptive parent anxiety, slut shaming, fear of intimacy and more meanwhile telling an interesting story that keeps you at the edge of your seat all season long. The number of conversations this show opens unapologetically is applaudable.

Sex Education is eye candy. I don’t mean the actors are attractive, yes, some of them are hella attractive, but it’s also shot beautifully. The frames are mesmerizing which complements the story and makes the show even easier to watch, and more fun.

Now, this is the main reason you need to watch the show and I will not spoil anything because I won’t do you dirty like that, but the plot is insanely hooking. I am not spoiling, but hell I wish I could. If you watched the show hit my DMs and let’s talk, and if you haven’t go watch it then let’s talk, because boy there is soooo much to talk about.
