We’re at that time of year again, when it’s so freezing our bodies just cannot handle it. Naturally, our white blood cells and antibodies get to work-did I get that right? Probably not. Common symptoms include a sore throat, runny nose, and coughs and sneezes so far you can’t see 5 feet in front of you. Here’s a list of some natural immunity boosters to help you during this fine time of our new year/decade. First though, here’s a quick run through of the ingredients and their benefits.
1- Orange juice
A classic.
Function: Boosts immune system, cellular repair, detoxifies the body, reduces inflammation, and, of course, has good old Vitamin C for added immune support.
2- Garlic
According to TVD, this does not offer any protection from vampires. What it does, however, is provide plenty of help due to its antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties. Just add it to any of your food recipes, and you’re good. Maybe have some mints afterwards though.
3- Ginger
This is a must. It reduces fevers, soothes sore throats, removes mucus from the chest through coughing, and opens your sinuses. It even helps remove toxins and viruses, and reduces nausea.
4- Cayenne
Add this to whichever meal you choose, I guess, and enjoy its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties; just don’t ask me what any of that means. It relieves your migraine, nerve, and joint pain, prevents blood clots, and even supports weight loss.
5- Apple
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? Apparently there’s a reason for that-which would be its immunity boosting and anti-inflammatory properties.
6-Turmeric
Yet another spice with anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities. I’ve heard it can also help with teeth-whitening.
7- Pineapple
This boosts your immune system-it has vitamin C, A, and selenium-which I’ve never heard of but apparently is good for you.
Now that I’ve successfully written an article resembling a grocery list, here’re the recipes!
Recipe #1:
- ⅓ cup orange juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ tbsp minced ginger
- ½ tsp powdered tumeric
- Pinch or two or cayenne pepper
Just mix those up in a small glass and you’re good.
Recipe #2:
- 1 orange, peeled
- 1 lemon, peeled
- 1 cup pineapple
- 1 apple, diced
- 1 clove garlic
- ½ – ¾ fresh ginger root
- Dash of cayenne
Put all those ingredients in a juicer, except for the cayenne. Put into a glass (or 3-4 shot glasses), add a sprinkle of cayenne, and drink right away.
Recipe #3:
- 1 fresh lemon
- 3-5 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp honey
- ½ tbsp ginger
- ⅛ tsp cayenne
- ⅛ tsp turmeric
- 1 cup water
Blend those ingredients and store in a glass jar. Take 1 cup 3 times a day and enjoy the results!
Recipe #4:
- 8 fresh lemons
- 2 fresh oranges
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 2 tbsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp cayenne
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 bulb garlic
Blend those ingredients together, and take one cup 3 times a day till you start feeling better, or keep going to boost your immunity-your choice.
