The best Sci-fi books give you a chance to leap through time, explore a multitude of parallel universes and understand the meaning of life from a new perspective. Good science fiction can amaze and motivate, warn, raise questions and spark the imagination, inspiring human creativity and each new generation of stargazers. Plus, it’s just fun to read. Whether you prefer hard science or space operas, the science fiction genre is vast and offers an ever growing variety.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a long-time lover of the genre or you’re just beginning to explore it, I promise you, these series can help you take your love of science fiction to a whole other dimension.
The Shatter Me Series
Shatter Me is a young adult dystopian hexalogy written by Tahereh Mafi. The series centers on Juliette Ferrars, a 17-year-old girl with a lethal touch which enables her to draw living organisms’ energy.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Percy Jackson & the Olympians, often shortened to Percy Jackson, is a pentalogy of fantasy adventure novels written by author Rick Riordan, and the first book series in the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles. Percy Jacksons life is somewhat normal until one day he finds out that he’s a demigod, half mortal and half god – After that everything is just crazy.
The Divergent Series
The Divergent trilogy is a series of young adult science fiction adventure novels by American novelist Veronica Roth set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian Chicago .The society of the trilogy categorizes the citizens by their social and personality-related affiliation with five different factions, which removes the threat of anyone acting out and threatening the population’s safety.
The Mars Trilogy
The trilogy follows generations of characters over two hundred years living on Mars. Robinson explores the idea of Mars being a utopia when compared to Earth. The first book, Red Mars, details the colonization process on Mars in 2026, and the relationships between the settlers and the science of terraforming the area are major focuses throughout.
The Fifth Wave Series
The 5th Wave is a trilogy of young adult post-apocalyptic sci-fi novels written by American author Rick Yancey. Earth is systematically attacked by an unknown force in form of waves and after the first four waves have decimated the human population, the remaining populace is waiting, terrified, for the fifth wave, which will supposedly wipe the entire human population off earth.
The Twilight Series
Twilight is a series of four vampire-themed fantasy romance novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. the four books chart the later teen years of Isabella “Bella” Swan, a girl who moves to Forks, Washington, and falls in love with a 104-year-old vampire named Edward Cullen.

The Harry Potter Series
Although I’m sure y’all at least have an idea about this series….
Harry Potter is a series of fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The novels chronicle the lives of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
