5 Detox Infused Water Recipes That Don’t Taste Like Utter Crap

Since it’s Ramadan, everyone is stuffing their faces with stuffed duck or aubergine and while that may do wonders for our taste buds, it will do great harm to our hearts. Forget a cheating boyfriend/girlfriend, food will fuck your heart up more than an idiot, trust me.

With that in mind, however, I know I’m the only idiot willing to go on a cleanse mid-Ramadan. So to compromise, here are detox water recipes that don’t taste like vomit and will ease your intestines and liver. Just make sure you make them overnight!

1.Summer Watermelon Freshness

Bear with me and my cheesy names please! This is perfect for Suhour or to break your fast with because it will keep you refreshed and hydrated!

*Cut around 2 cups of watermelon bites.

*Slice 1 whole lemon.

*Tear ¼ cup of mint leaves.

*Fill 3 cups of filtered drinking water.

*Throw that in a jug and let it infuse overnight in the fridge.

You can choose to add ice cubes, but leaving it isn’t necessary since it spends a night cooling.

2. Strawberry Cucumber Haven

I don’t know about you, but I can munch on cucumbers all day; they’re full of water and essential nutrients. Combine that with strawberry and I’d die.

*(Try and fail to) evenly slice ½ cup of cucumber.

*Slice ½ cup of strawberries.

*Slice 1 whole lemon.

*Fill 3 cups of filtered drinking water.

*Throw them together and infuse overnight.

Lemon is a recurring ingredient here with so many benefits!

3. Apple Cider- Heat Beater Version

You want to kill me for the names yet? This is by far one of my absolute favourites because cinnamon is a great friend of mine, and this is a match made in heaven!

*Evenly slice 1 whole apple and remove the seeds.

*Grab around 3-4 sticks of cinnamon.

*Fill 3 cups of water.

*Infuse overnight.

Make sure you use cinnamon sticks not powder, not only for the aesthetic, but because the powder will clog the water and you won’t know how to drink it even if your life depended on it. Did I mention this helps in weight loss too?

4. Berries n’ Vitamin C

But are the names really that bad? I’m doing my best here. With this particular drink, your eyes will be quicker than your mouth  to devour it because orange and blue never looked better together!

*Cut 1 whole orange into tiny wedges.

*Grab a handful of blueberries.

*Slice ½ lemon.

*Fill 3 cups of water.

*Infuse overnight.

Your skin will love you for this, I promise. If you were wondering, you can also buy frozen blueberries from hypermarkets.

5. The Go-To

This is the basic idea of detox water, and you don’t have to worry  if you’re dealing with an empty fridge.

*Slice 1 cup of cucumbers.

*Slice ½ lemon.

*Fill 3 cups of water.

*Infuse overnight.

It really can’t get any simpler. You can also take this as a guideline to start off from, then when you’re confident, you can start playing around and experimenting with all the other options around you. You really can’t go wrong with this, but never put too much of anything- trust me on this one.

  1. This is probably the first time I’ve come across a detox recipe that hasn’t made me cringe. I’ve always wanted to try these, but the ingredients would put me off. Thanks for sharing!
