Last night the Met Gala was taking over the internet with celebrities posting photos of their mostly exquisite outfits and fan pages drooling over how beautiful their icons looked as they slayed the pink-carpet. We had quite an interesting list of Co-Chairs/Hosts; I mean, we had on the side of Anna Wintour: Serena Williams, Alessandro Michele, Harry Styles and Lady Gaga – if this isn’t impressive we don’t know what is.
The theme for the 2019 Met Gala was CAMP which seemed to initially confuse many of those on the guest list and audience alike. It is based on Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay titled “Notes on ‘Camp.” When asked to define it Anna Wintour said: “It’s about self-expression and individuality, something that is outrageous, fun and tongue-in-cheek”. And, well to say that the pink-carpet was beyond outrageously interesting would be quite an understatement.
Well, here is a quick look of what really stood out last night on the pink carpet.
Well, starting off with Lady Gaga as she fully embodied the Camp theme with not one, but four looks. Full on slaying in Brandon Maxwell and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Talk about a dramatic entrance, because that was one hell of a transformation! Win!
Harry Styles slayed the pink carpet in Gucci, blessing our eyes as he so beautifully took traditionally feminine elements like lace. Honestly, Harry’s look had me in tears because I love him so much. Too bad his beautiful shirt ripped.
Well, the hosts of the MET GALA have definitely proven their presence. Also, please check out those nails.
Extra doesn’t even begin to describe this. Ezra Miller outdid himself this year. I have no words, just going to let you process this.
This has to be one of the cutest, and most beautiful looks from last night.
UM…. Billy Porter in The Blonds. He came to the red carpet with something that hits very close to home for us Egyptians as he arrived as Ancient Egypt’s Golden Sun God RA.
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH & SOPHIE HUNTER
I will say one thing, can you see the green stone on Ben’s shirt. Marvel Fans he is literally wearing the time stone, I do not know if your heart feels warm, but mine does.
Serena wore a beautiful Versace dress and de Grisogono jewelry. The athlete looked like a literal goddess. Also, she was wearing OffWhite sneakers, I’ll just leave that here.
Halsey took a little inspiration from Wonder Woman with those dazzling gold cuff bracelets, making her a superhero on the pink carpet.
Zendaya made yesterday’s night in fashion more magical than it already is, by transforming into Cinderella in the middle of the pink-carpet.
MILEY CYRUS & LIAM HEMSWORTH
Miley looked stunning in her YSL dress, and Bulgari jewellery.
At first glance, she looks like a walking carpet, but when you actually look closer she is basically a walking uterus. As her dress flows like a pool of menstrual blood, and there are folds reminiscent of these of the labia. Yes, it might not be the most beautiful dress on the carpet, but well it definitely stood out with around 5 people helping her walk for the entire night.
Janelle was a literal work of art last night, as she gave a little cheeky wink to Picasso.
He showed up wearing Gucci, and two heads.
Celine wore a dress by Oscar de la Renta weighing 22 pounds. And, while people mocked her dress comparing it to a spaghetti rack, her look still managed to shine.
Gwen did not come to play, as she came look hot as ever last night- literally dazzling everyone with her outfit (Moschino, designed by Jeremy Scott), physique and jewellery. She was not accompanied by Blake Shelton as he was filming The Voice, but if I am being frank, even if he was there he would have probably worn the same outfit he wore on set.
P.S She is not wearing real animal fur.
KIM, KYLIE AND KENDALL
Just theatrical and chic!
A bit childish but still somehow chic and super playful, it definitely made her standout with her very cute vibe.
Her look left me gasping for air because it might’ve been the most visually blessing and aesthetically pleasing.
ALICIA KEYS & SWIZZ BEATS
Last, but definitely not least this very beautiful couple. They looked modest and classy in their matching green outfits. So dreamy.
Well guys, that’s about it for this year. Remember, the Met is where there are no limits on what to wear, it is a chance for artists to get their creativity out and to express themselves, hence why Met themes and outfits are always insane.
