Sad Romantic Movies to Watch If You Want to Cry

By: Zeina Amr

Whether you love Valentines Day or hate it, watching romantic movies on the 14th of February is a sacred tradition. These are literally the saddest movies I have seen (except 1 and I’m not telling you which of them :p) and have all made me ugly cry at some point. I am a crybaby though and have cried watching matab sena3y about 2 weeks ago but that’s not the point… Grab a box of tissues and some popcorn, we’ve got some serious movie marathon-ing to do!

• Celeste and Jesse Forever

Brooklyn 99 fans, Andy Samberg will make u cry and not from laughter this time! Long story short, the movie starts with 2 best friends getting married and then getting a divorce deciding to stay friends; the plot couldn’t have been simpler but their emotions and relationship are as mixed up as it gets..

Cast: Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones

• Before We Go

AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX: 2 strangers stumble into each other in New York, end up helping each other out and opening up about their lives- it doesn’t get better than this!

Cast: Chris Evans, Alice Eve

• One Day
This one’s a classic- we witness Emma and Dexter’s friendship on July 15th of every year and it’s epic!

Cast: Anne Hathway, Jim Sturgess

• A Star Is Born
If you haven’t seen it yet idk what the hell you’re waiting for to be honest.. This movie is so freaking heartbreaking I can’t even listen to the soundtrack without a lump in my throat.

Cast: Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga

• Me Before You
Louisa and Will’s love story will make you smile, laugh and cry! Their performances are both amazing, it’s definitely a must watch.

Cast: Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin

• The Big Sick
We don’t see many Hollywood movies with a Pakistani main character and that was a really good change. The plot starts just like your typical rom com but ends up being much more!

Cast: Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan

• The Best of Me
This movie made me cry the most out of this list 🙂 Nicholas Sparks gives us one emotional rollercoaster revolving around Dawson and Amanda‘s reunion after 21 years. Will they work their relationship out and get back together or will life get too messy?

Cast: Michelle Monaghan, James Marsden

Happy crying hehe 😉
