It’s been a long time since I last talked (wrote?) about lit humans, so here I am again, right back to square one, doing my own form of non-destructive gossip. I feel like this Halloween has been tamer than ever, or maybe it’s because all the crazy parties are happening in the next two weeks, we’ll find out soon enough. So, obviously, one of the three we ALL know, but the second two are a surprise for many of you, yes, new people are coming in and shit’s about to catch fire. Anyway, enough of my rambling, here’s what’s going on.
1- Farida’s Makeup Bag
Farida’s Makeup Bag is a relatively new account displaying the works of Farida El Shafie. Farida is a current Modern English School senior (sound familiar, anyone?), she’s 17, and has been doing makeup for only 3 years. Despite the fact that she’s self-taught and has only been practicing for those few years, Farida already shows a ton of promise. Everyone starts somewhere and while you can see the amateur-ishness, it’s not exactly off-putting, rather it gives her an edge; I mean, if this is her start, where will she be in a few years? Farida has an array of different looks this year, while none of them are gore-y and most of them are basic, I missed this basic-ness. So if you’ve got a spicy outfit, or don’t feel like spending hours stuck in a chair for a look, this girl is your go-to.
2- Sir Salah
My inner fangirl is coming out now – beware.
Not exactly a teen, but we shall consider him so for his spirit. He’s 22 and goes to BUE, he’s also been haunting my life for a year now, I’ve seen NO ONE in Egypt do what he does, he goes all fucking out and I LOVE IT. You want to stand out severely at a party? You don’t want to look horrifying but down right creepy? You want your features to stand out while still retaining that halloween theme? This guy is it for you. He’s the definition of deviance and he’s so incredibly skilled it’s chilling and very much admirable. Movie characters have never been more accurately re-created than in his work. Nothing matters to this guy more than creativity, he’s practically saturated in it. The Nun? Check. Aliens? Check. Pumpkin? Check. God/Goddess? Check. You can even mix looks I’m sure, it’s practically what he himself does. Basic, Gore, Characters? You wish it, he probably has 1000 examples of each to show you. Book through DMing him on Instagram @sirsalah
3- Makeup by Nour Rizk
Nour, it’s been almost a year since your interview, and I doubt I’ll ever be over you.
MES’18 Alumna, current AUCian, still a kickass makeup artist with a penchant for collaborating with the hottest teen models and photographers in town. If there’s one word to describe this woman, it’s fucking solid. You want to show up bloody and scare half the party to death? No one in the whole of Egypt (and maybe the Middle East) does gore and blood like Nour. Absolutely no one. Nour pours herself into Halloween work especially, because, as we all know, she is a SFX MUA at heart. This Halloween, she did two shoots, with three photographers, and an array of models, all people you know, all people we love. The first shoot was done by Farida Maksoud (@faridamaksoudd) and Ahmed Tarek (@tarek.jpeg) featuring our beloved Hoda El Sherbeeny (@hsherbeeny), Nour Mourey (@nuurmourey), Mariam Mancy (@mariamancyy), Ismail El Mahdy (@ismail_elmahdy), and Fahd Ragheb (@fahd.r_). This shoot was done on a rooftop, in all white, and a ton of red soaked in. The second shoot was photographed courtesy of Bahira El Kerdani (@bahiraelkerdani) featuring some incredible youth: Jumana Mourey (@jumanamourey_), Fahd Ragheb (@fahd.r_), the ICONIC Farah Magdi (@farahmagdi_), Kharshoum (@kharshoumm), Hassan Azmi (@hassanazmii), and Farah Amr (@farahamr27). DM Nour to book! @makeupbynrizk
Don’t forget to follow these three, the future of Egypt’s makeup evolution and transition into lit-er things depends on them – for real.
