Why “Love, Rosie” is More Than Just My Fav Movie

By: Lobna El Helly

It’s easy to get carried away with whatever’s on your plate and forget to give a call to that friend who’s been on your mind for a while. Love, Rosie is a movie that portrays every single obstacle that could get in the way of a friendship, yet the two main characters, Alex and Rosie, who were the best of friends growing up, always had a strong bond that was not easily shaken by what life threw in their way. As they got older, things got a little harder, and even though you find yourself rooting for them to be together throughout the entire movie, the beauty in the whole thing lies within something much, much deeper yet a lot more simple than that, and it is their friendship.

It shows two people who care so much for each other and are always there for one another, despite everything that goes on. And that’s what friendship truly is. It is the joy you feel when you see your friend achieving their dreams, feeling your heart smile at their excitement for what lies ahead, no matter what you are going through. It is putting in the effort to maintain contact with each other, even if it’s just through a text. It’s being there for the big moments, happy or sad, supporting each other and going through them together. That is friendship.

If you’ve seen the movie, you know how authentic it is, as it shows how nothing goes as planned, and the hardships that people face in their daily lives. It proves how nothing is more important than maintaining your relationship with the people you hold near and dear to your heart, regardless of where they are around the world. You’ll be able to see how beautiful the message behind it truly is.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I highly recommend that you do, and get ready for what lies ahead, as you’ll find yourself relating to the characters more than you’d expect, laughing and crying with them all the way through.
