I’ve been hearing a lot about Mermaid lately, from all of my friends living in maadi, and all the stories have managed to water my mouth enough, to motive me to go to maadi just to check this place out.
Now I understand that most of you guys have no idea what I’m taking about, and have never heard anything about this place. However, it is my job as a fat foodie to shine some light at these ‘word of mouth’ legendary places (in addition to my boss asking me to write about places people don’t know😌)
The restaurant is in a very popular street in Maadi, near plenty of our favorite restaurants; yet it’s still a very low key place. The wooden door, dimmed lights, fancy mosaics and paintings on the wall got my belly excited what they had to serve us. The vibe set in this miraculous restaurant is very cozy and extremely comfortable. It’s what I like to call a “fat supportive” atmosphere, yet it’s still very subtle and classy, somehow!!
I went to Mermaid with three of my fat friends, and I could proudly say I made the right choice when i decided to go with them; we ended up ordering 8 main dishes amongst the four of us. This is what I live for, begad, it’s just awesome how much someone can eat and once. I could honestly say I’m so proud of my friends and I. I was able to hit two birds with one stone, as coincidentally all my friends are good looking and photogenic, fa you get to see two hotties in all the food pics now.
Lets start by talking about my ultimate favorite dish from mermaid: lasagna. It feels like your tongue just took a one way flight to Italy and it’s loving it. This traditional Italian dish is a blast of flavor that satisfies all your desires. The succulent tomato sauce that drenches the mince meat is the perfect recipe for the bolognese sauce that works to complement the long layers of wide, flattened pasta sheets, lasagna. The broiled mixture of cheeses added on top, added the perfect amount of creaminess that worked impeccably well with the strong, wondrous tomato sauce. The mouth watering dish allows you to explore many differnet flavors and how they intricately help complement one another. It’s a symphony of flavors with each instrument more distinct and tasty then the next. As the flavor delights your taste buds, your mouth is able to explore the different texture of each unique ingredient.
One of the really good ones was certainly the fettuccine carbonara. I honestly don’t know where to start this one from; whether I should brag about how I could easily assert the sweet combination of butter and cheese within the sauce, or about how the savory fried bacon strips added it’s delectable flavor to the pasta, or even how the pasta itself was perfectly cooked. The entire experience of eating this dish was extremely breath taking.
This is gonna turn out to be a college essay if I don’t stop bragging about how awesome the 8 dishes were, fa I think it’s best if i stop here. I however have to note that this was an extremely mouthwatering experience at large, and I’d for sure recommend it to all those who want to be happy.
