You Won’t Make It On Your Own

house of glass

we live in a house of glass
where we have no savior
our only divide is social class
we live for favor after favor
and all it takes is one little stone
to break the illusion you see
once it’s cracked we fall from the throne
we catch up to the lies and deceit

we live in a house of glass
where marbles are scattered on the floor
they represent the lives we pass
and our playing role after role
our walls are lined with masks
ones we choose from day after day
each is for a different task
until the lies fall and for them we pay

we live in a house of glass
where we feed on human sorrow
on their boundaries we trespass
and we have no fear of tomorrow
the lies we weave trap us
until we can’t move from with in
we can’t even be saved by a compass
we have to compensate for our sin

we live in a house of glass
where our deeds are far from frail
they are visible like marks on the grass
and they mark our dreaded trail
we need to break the illusion
or our lives are doomed from the start
we need to ease the confusion
we need to use this heart

we live in a house of glass
where so much is unknown
be careful before you pass
you won’t make it on your own
