Top 2018 Songs So Far

By: Fatima Abdalla

So, we’re only 2 months into 2018 and there are already lots of songs we’re constantly playing on repeat, making the 2017 songs take a backseat. Whether you know these songs/ artists or not, you really do have to listen to each and every single song on this list.

Here’s a playlist of the 2018 songs you just can’t miss out on:

(Note: This is not the Billboard list, it’s a playlist containing both, popular and not so popular songs, that deserve to be on this list  – Tap each song to listen to it)

1) Love lies – Khalid & Normani

If you know me well, you know that Khalid is my all-time favorite singer, that even my friends were always like “khalas ba2a stop playing Khalid”. Well, I don’t really hear this sentence anymore because pretty much everyone can agree on the fact that Khalid’s new song is

A-MA-ZING! It’s his first (and hopefully not the last) collaboration with Fifth Harmony’s “Normani Kordei” and it’s featured in the 2018 movie “Love, Simon” which will be released next month! I’m already super excited for this movie!

2) FRIENDS – Marshmello & Anne-Marie

Marshmello also called this song “the official friend zone anthem” and suggested to send this song to whoever you wanna put in the friend zone. I guess it’s pretty obvious now what this song is about. It’s a collab between one of the most talented DJs ever and a singer, who just loves to sing about dumping guys. “F-R-I-E-N-D-S – That’s how you fucking spell friends” New Favorite verse ever or what?

3-Finesse (Remix) – Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B

“We out here drippin in Finesse, it don’t make no sense”. We haven’t heard this verse since 2016, why is it back on the radio and why do we keep hearing it everywhere we go? It’s because a new Remix of the song featuring Cardi B was released on January 13, 2018 making it one of 2018’s biggest hits so far. To be honest, it’s such a nice song to dance to.

4) Miss you – Tory Lanez, Cashmere Cat & Major Lazer

If you haven’t heard this song yet, then you’re truly missing out. Having Major Lazer and Cashmere Cat together in one song can already tell you how good the music is, with Tory Lanez singing, this song is just beyond perfection. The lyrics is about coping with missing a lover who you under appreciated but now regret the mistakes you’ve done to them. Relatable..

5) The Middle – Grey, Zedd & Maren Morris

Caution: This song is very catchy – listen to it once and you’ll find yourself singing along and not being able to get it out of your head. Despite the fact that I didn’t know who Maren Morris was, but I through this song realized that she has such an amazing voice, along with music by Zedd and Grey, this song is as good as it gets.

6-God’s Plan – Drake

You must’ve been living under a rock if you haven’t heard Drake’s “God’s Plan” yet.  It is along with “Diplomatic Immunity” the only song released from his new album “Scary Hours”. After releasing “More Life” in early 2017, Drake announced later that year, that he’d be taking some time off to focus on personal aspirations. But he’s finally back with a song that debuted #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in just a week.. what a comeback! Even the music video is something i just can’t put into words. Drake took the budget of the music video, almost 1 Billion dollars, and gave it away to families, schools, charities and more.

7) Hearts Ain’t Gonna Lie – Jonas Blue & Arlissa

After releasing  “Mama” last summer, Jonas Blue is back with another track, that might be even better than the last one. He’s collaborating with Arlissa, a 25-year-old British singer, who isn’t that well known, but has an amazing voice. This is honestly one my favorite tracks: the lyrics, the music & arlissa’s voice – everything is so on point.

8-She loves Control – Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello has been killing it lately. From Havana, to Real Friends, to Never be the Same and now She loves control. Her songs jut manage to reach the top of the Billboard each week, but she honestly totally deserves that. Don’t really need to say much about this song because you probably already hear it everywhere you go.
9-Notice Me – Migos ft. Post Malone

Although Migos aren’t my really favorite, nor the type of music I like to listen to, you can’t speak about the top 2018 songs and not mention Migos’ New Album “Culture II”.

At first, I didn’t want to listen to the Album, but this song made me change my mind.

Post has collaborated with Quavo before on “Congratulations”, however this is the first time he works with Migos and the outcome is this song, which I’ve had on repeat for like the past 5 days.

10-Pray for me – The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar

Wait what? The Weekend and Kendrick Lamar? Together? Yes! It took these legends 2 years to finally release another song together after “Sidewalks” but it was honestly worth the wait. Just hearing the intro music will make you know you’re about to hear the Weeknd! This song was also featured in the 2018 version of “The Black Panther” movie. I could honestly watch the full movie just to hear this song..

11-Mad Love – David Guetta & Sean Paul ft. Becky G

Probably the Party Song of 2018. Just knowing that David Guetta and Sean Paul are collabing tells us enough about the song. It will instantly put you in the mood to dance and party, so if it’s the exams season for you, you better not listen to it lol. For real tho, this song brings the good old David Guetta songs back.

12-Ride the Wave – Omar Basaad ft. Xiyohn & A’Y

I honestly didn’t know the Djs or Singer of this song either, I just came across it on Anghami and I absolutely fell in love with it. After doing some research, I found out that “Omar Basaad’ is a 29-year-old Saudi Arabian-Turkish DJ that isn’t as famous as he deserves to be. Go listen to this song and you’ll understand why I’m saying this. I couldn’t find it on YouTube tho, I think it’s only on Anghami.
